Ambient Light Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Automatic Lighting Sensor Test/Replacement
1. Remove the instrument panel Instrument Panel Removal/Installation.
2. Remove the automatic lighting sensor (A).
3. Reconnect automatic lighting sensor 4P connector (B).
4. Reconnect the automatic lighting sensor subharness to the dashboard wire harness.
5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
6. Measure the voltage between terminals No. 1 and body ground.
There should be 5 V.
- If there is not 5 V, check for;
- Automatic lighting control unit input test Service and Repair.
- An open or high resistance in the wire.
- If there is 5 V, go to step 7 Service and Repair.
7. Measure the voltage between terminals No. 4 and body ground.
There should be less than 0.2 V.
- If there is not less than 0.2 V, check for;
- Automatic lighting control unit input test Service and Repair.
- An open or high resistance in the wire.
- If there is less than 0.2 V, go to step 8 Service and Repair.
8. Measure the voltage between automatic lighting sensor 4P connector terminals No. 3 and body ground.
- There should be less than 0.2 V when you cover the automatic lighting sensor (Cut the light off completely with a dark cloth).
- There should be about 4 V when you shine light on the automatic lighting sensor.
9. If the test is not as specified, replace the sensor.
