SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 34-1x

DTC 34-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):

Open in the Right Side Curtain Airbag Inflator

Special Tools Required

- SRS Inflator Simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A
- SRS Simulator Lead E 07XAZ-S1A0200

NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.

1. Clear the DTC memory.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

3. Read the DTC.

Is DTC 34-1x indicated?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

6. Remove the headliner Service and Repair.

7. Disconnect the roof wire harness 2P connector (A) from the right side curtain airbag 2P connector.





8. Connect the terminal of SRS simulator lead E to the SRS inflator simulator (2 Ohms connector), and then connect SRS simulator lead E to the roof wire harness 2P connector.

9. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

10. Clear the DTC memory.

11. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

12. Read the DTC.

Is DTC 34-1x indicated?

YES -

Go to step 13.

NO -

Open in the right side curtain airbag inflator; replace the right side curtain airbag Side Curtain Airbag Replacement, then clear the DTC.�

13. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

14. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.

15. Disconnect SRS unit connector C (28P) from the SRS unit.

16. Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead E. Do not disconnect SRS simulator lead E from the roof wire harness 2P connector.

17. Measure the resistance of the SRS simulator lead E terminal. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector C (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement. If the DTC does not clear, replace the harness.�

NO -

Open in the floor wire harness, the dashboard wire harness A, or the roof wire harness. Check the connections at C552 and C653:

- '07-08 models.
- '09-11 models with navigation system.
- '09-11 models without navigation system.

If the connections are OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
