Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed
XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (with navigation)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or lose terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Check for the navigation system hard error codes.
Are there any navigation DTC related to the audio or the XM system?
YES -
Do the appropriate navigation DTC troubleshooting in the navigation section, and recheck.�
NO -
Go to step 3.
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Measure the voltage between body ground and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 1 and No. 7 individually.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the No. 9 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 1 and/or No. 7.�
5. Disconnect these items:
- Audio-navigation unit connector D (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)
6. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a shot to body ground in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) terminal No. 2.�
NO -
Go to step 7.
7. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver.�
8. Reconnect XM receiver connector A (14P).
9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
10. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Substitute a known-good XM receiver XM Receiver Replacement, and recheck. If the symptom goes away, replace the original XM receiver XM Receiver Replacement.�
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground (G551).�
