Dashboard Removal/Installation

Special Tools Required

- KTC Trim Tool Set SOJATP2014

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the dashboard, the body, or the related parts.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove these items:

- A-pillar trims, both sides
- Driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation
- Kick panel, passenger's side
- Dashboard center lower cover Dashboard Center Lower Cover Removal/Installation
- Glove box Service and Repair
- Passenger's dashboard undercover Passenger's Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation
- Passenger's vent Service and Repair
- Steering column Steering Column Removal/Installation
- M/T: Disconnect the shift cable Service and Repair
- A/T: Disconnect the A/T control cable A/T Shift Lever Removal
- For some models: Subwoofer

Driver's Side

3. From under the dash, disconnect the tweeter harness connector (A) (for some models), the driver's door wire harness connectors (B), the brake pedal position switch connector (C), and the clutch switch connectors (D) (M/T). Disconnect the throttle actuator control module connector (E).






Middle Area

4. Disconnect the SRS unit connector A, the engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), and the floor wire harness connectors (C).

5. From under the dash, disconnect the passenger's door wire harness connectors (A), the antenna lead (B), the ECM/PCM connectors (C), the engine compartment wire harness connector (D), the roof wire harness connectors (E), and the heater subharness connectors (F). If equipped, disconnect the amplifier connectors (G), and release the vinyl tape (H) and the wire harness protector (I) from the amplifier (J).





6. Detach all of the harness clips and the connector clips.

7. Remove the dashboard (A) through the front door opening.

1. Remove the cap (B).

2. Remove the dashboard mounting bolts (C, D, E), the center bracket mounting bolts (F), and the dashboard mounting nut (G).

3. Gently lift up the dashboard to release the guide pins (H, I) on the body.

4. If necessary, remove the center frame mounting bolts (J), then remove the center bracket (K) from the center frame (L).

NOTE: Do not rest the dashboard on its lower console opening, or it may be damaged. Lay it on its front or back.





8. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
- Before tightening the bolts, make sure each wire harness is not pinched.
- Push the clips into place securely.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly, and the antenna lead is connected properly.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center frame mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Reinstall the center bracket on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening both dashboard mounting bolts and the nut, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and the center frame mounting bolts.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
