Navigation System Symptom Troubleshooting - Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly

Rearview camera image does not come on or work properly

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Check any official Honda service website for more service information about the navigation system.
- Check for the correct color DVD and software version. The wrong DVD or software version may affect the rearview camera function.
- A short in the wiring to the rearview camera can permanently damage the audio-navigation unit.

1. Set the parking brake.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and check the reverse signal in the Car Status test.

Does the back-up signal go from OFF (0) to ON (1) when the shift lever position is changed from P or N to R?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector C (8P).

6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

7. Measure the voltage between audio-navigation unit connector C (8P) terminal No. 5 and body ground with the shift lever in R.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Replace the audio-navigation unit.�

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the reverse relay.�

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector G (7P).

10. Disconnect the rearview camera 12P connector.

11. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector G (7P) and the rearview camera 12P connector according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

12. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector G (7P) and body ground according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness. A short in the wire(s) for the rearview camera could permanently damage the audio-navigation unit. Once the short is repaired, recheck the rearview camera operation. If the rearview camera does not work, replace the audio-navigation unit.�

NO -

Go to step 13.

13. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

14. Measure the voltage between audio-navigation unit connector G (7P) and body ground according to the table.









Is there 0.2 V or more?

YES -

There is a short to power in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness. A short in the wire(s) for the rearview camera could permanently damage the audio-navigation unit. Once the short is repaired, recheck the rearview camera operation. If the rearview camera does not work, replace the audio-navigation unit.�

NO -

Go to step 15.

15. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

16. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio-navigation unit connector G (7P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the rearview camera. Replace the affected shielded harness. A short in the wire(s) for the rearview camera could permanently damage the audio-navigation unit. Once the short in the wire repaired, recheck the rearview camera operation. If the rearview camera does not work, replace the audio-navigation unit.�

NO -

Go to step 17.

17. Reconnect the rearview camera 12P connector.

18. Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit.

19. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

20. Check the rearview camera image with the shift lever in R.

Is the rear view image OK?

YES -

Replace the original audio-navigation unit.�

NO -

Replace the rearview camera Service and Repair.�
