Audio System Self-Diagnostic Function

How to Check for Audio System Condition (EX and SC without navigation)

NOTE: The self diagnostic function does not find every problem with the audio system. Check any official Honda service website for more information about the audio system.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Make sure the audio system is turned off.

3. Push and hold the preset No. 1 and No. 6 buttons.

4. While holding the buttons, push the PWR knob to ON.

5. Release the buttons and the self-diagnosis begins.





6. When you are in the self-diagnostic mode, pressing a preset button starts the diagnostic mode that is assigned to that preset button.

No. 2 button/No. 3 button

Entire LCD lighting (press No. 2 button)/light-out (press No. 3 button) mode: Turns on/off the entire LCD to show if a LCD segment is stuck on or dead (off). If a LCD segment is stuck on, or is dead, replace the audio unit.

No. 4 button

Display I2C-BUS communication verification status: Displays the verification of the communication among the display, the EPROM, and the tuner (toggles between DSP, EEP and TNR every 5 seconds).

NOTE: Any other diagnostic screens shown are for the audio manufactures use only.

Entire LCD lighting (press No. 2 button)/lights-outs mode (press No. 3 button)

This diagnostic screen checks for segments that may be dead (off) or stuck on. All the segments in the display must appear. If there are dead segments, replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation).





I2C-BUS communication verification status (No. 4 button)

NOTE: If any of the buses are faulty (NG), replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation).





- The self-diagnostic function ends when you turn the audio unit OFF, or turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

How to Obtain the Audio Unit Serial Number

NOTE: This procedure can only be done when the power has been disconnected from the audio unit, and the audio unit displays CODE when the radio is turned on.

With the audio unit turned off, push and hold the preset buttons No. 1, No. 6 and the PWR knob.

The audio unit displays the eight digits of the serial number (example 12345678). Use all eight digits as the serial number when using the interactive network (iN) to get the 5 digit anti-theft code.
