Rear Bumper: Service and Repair




Rear Bumper Removal/Installation

NOTE:

- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the rear bumper.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the rear bumper or the body.
- When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.

1. Remove the screws (A, B), the bolts (C) and the clips (D) securing the rear bumper (E).






2. Pull out on the rear bumper (A) at both wheel arch areas to release it from the hooks (B) on the upper brackets (C).






3. With the help of an assistant, pull both wheel arch areas away from the upper brackets (A), then pull out the rear bumper (B).






4. With the help of an assistant, pull out the rear bumper (A) to release the rear bumper from the hooks (B).






5. Release the hooks (A) on the underside of the rear bumper absorber (B) with a flat-tip screwdriver, then release the other retaining hooks. Pull out the absorber to remove it from the rear bumper beam (C).





6. Install the bumper in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Make sure the rear bumper securely engages the hooks on the upper brackets and the bumper support brackets.
- Push the clips and the hooks into place securely.
