Side Airbag Replacement
NOTE: If replacing the side airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Removal
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Remove the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.
3. Remove the front seat-back cover/pad Front Seat-Back Cover Replacement.
4. Remove the mounting nuts (A), then remove the side airbag (B) from the front seat-back frame (C).
Installation
NOTE:
- If the side airbag lid is secured by tape, remove the tape.
- Do not open the lid of the side airbag cover.
- Be sure to install the harness wires so that they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
1. Place the side airbag on the front seat-back frame (A). Tighten the new mounting nuts (B).
2. Install the front seat-back cover/pad in the reverse order of removal Front Seat-Back Cover Replacement.
3. Install the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.
4. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
5. Move the front seat and the seat-back through their full ranges of movement, making sure the harness wires are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
6. Clear any DTCs.
7. After installing the side airbag, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
