Rear Seat Belt Replacement

Rear Seat Belt

NOTE: Check the rear seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary. Be careful not to damage them during removal and installation.

1. Remove these items:

- Rear trim panel Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area
- Rear seat striker Service and Repair
- C-pillar trim/upper quarter window trim

2. Remove the upper anchor bolt (A).






3. Remove the retractor bolt (A), then remove the rear seat belt (B) and the retractor (C).





4. If necessary, remove the seat belt protector (D).

5. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to the specified torque.

Seat Belt Buckle

NOTE: Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.

1. Pull up the rear seat, and hold it with the strap.

2. Release the hooks (A) and detach the clip, then remove the inner support cover (B).






3. Remove the center anchor bolt (A), and pull out the seat belt buckle (B), then remove it.






4. Install the seat belt buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Assemble the washers on the center anchor bolt as shown.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolt before reinstallation.
- Make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt buckle.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten them to the specified torque.
