DTC Troubleshooting: B1280

DTC B1280:

Turn Signal Switch Circuit Malfunction

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then back to ON (II).

3. Turn the turn signal switch to the left turn position and wait for at least 2 seconds.

4. Turn the turn signal switch to the right turn position and wait for at least 2 seconds.

5. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1280 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 6.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the combination light switch and the combination switch control unit are OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections at the combination switch connector, and at the combination switch control unit connector.�

6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7. Disconnect the combination light switch 12P connector from the wiper/washer switch.

8. Check for short in the turn signal switch terminals in each switch position Service and Repair.

Is there a short?

YES -

Faulty combination light switch, replace it.�

NO -

Faulty combination switch control unit, replace the wiper/washer switch.�
