SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-2x
DTC 62-2x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Short in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
1. Clear the DTC memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and un-buckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
3. Read the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Is DTC 62-2x indicated?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
6. Buckle the front passenger's seat belt.
- Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
- Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
7. Un-buckle the front passenger's seat belt.
- Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
- Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Are the resistances as specified?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
8. Measure the resistance between body ground and front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3, individually. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly Front Seat Belt Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
9. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait at least 3 minutes.
10. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner 4P connectors Service and Repair.
11. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit Service and Repair.
12. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
13. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�
NO -
Short to ground in the front passenger's seat wire harness or the floor wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
