SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 85-32
DTC 85-32:
Side Airbag Cutoff Indicator Stays On ('07 model)
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
1. Clear the DTC memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
Does the SRS indicator stay on?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�
3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
4. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.
5. Disconnect the OPDS unit harness 8P connector (A) from the OPDS unit (B).
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Measure the voltage between OPDS unit harness 8P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. There should be battery voltage.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Faulty OPDS unit; replace the OPDS unit OPDS Unit Replacement, then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Go to step 8.
8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
9. Remove the gauge control module Service and Repair. Disconnect gauge control module connector A (30P) from the gauge control module.
10. Measure the resistance between OPDS unit harness 8P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Replace the gauge control module Service and Repair, then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Short to ground in the OPDS unit harness, the floor wire harness, the front passenger's seat wire harness, or the dashboard wire harness; replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
