DTC Troubleshooting: B1224 (E)
DTC B1224 or DTC indicator E:
A Short in the Rear In-car Temperature Sensor Circuit (with Rear Climate Control)
1. Clear the DTC by turning the ignition switch to LOCK (0), and then turn to ON (II).
2. Operate the rear climate control system in several modes.
3. Check for DTCs using the HDS How to Troubleshoot the Climate Control System or self-diagnostic function How to Troubleshoot the Climate Control System.
Is DTC B1224 or E indicated?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Intermittent failure.�
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Remove the rear in-car temperature sensor Rear In-Car Temperature Sensor Replacement and test it Rear In-Car Temperature Sensor Test.
Does the rear in-car temperature sensor test OK?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Replace the rear in-car temperature sensor.�
6. Disconnect the rear climate control unit 22P connector.
7. Check for continuity between rear climate control unit 22P connector terminal No. 11 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the rear climate control unit and the rear in-car temperature sensor.�
NO -
Go to step 8.
8. Check for continuity between rear climate control unit 22P connector terminals No. 11 and No. 21.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short in the wires between the rear climate control unit and the rear in-car temperature sensor.�
NO -
Substitute a known-good rear climate control unit, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original rear climate control unit Rear Climate Control Unit Removal/Installation.�
