Active Control Engine Mount (ACM) System Symptom Troubleshooting - Harsh engine vibration felt in the passenger's compartment

Harsh engine vibration felt in the passenger's compartment ('08-10 models J35A7 engine)

1. Start the engine, and let it idle 20 seconds.

2. Check for PGM-FI system DTCs with the HDS Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Are any Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. Select the ACM in the PGM-FI system, and check for ACM system's DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated?

YES -

Go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.�

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Open the engine hood.

6. Select the ACM TEST in the ACM INSPECTION menu with the HDS.

7. Do the Fr. ACM SOL OFF with the HDS.

Does the engine vibration change when you turn the Fr. ACM SOL OFF?

YES -

Turn the Fr. ACM SOL to ON, then go to step 10.

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Exit the ACM TEST, and select the Fr. ACM SOL.V ACTIVATION in the ACM INSPECTION menu with the HDS.

9. Check the front engine mount with your hand.

Does the mount vibrate?

YES -

Check the mount for damage. If needed, replace the front engine mount Front Engine Mount Replacement (J35A7 Engine). If the mount is OK, go to step 1 and recheck.

NO -

Replace the front engine mount Front Engine Mount Replacement (J35A7 Engine).�

10. Do the Rr. ACM SOL OFF with the HDS.

Does the engine vibration change when you turn the Rr. ACM SOL OFF?

YES -

The ACM system is OK at this time. Check the other engine mounts and any other engine problems that can cause vibration.�

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Exit the ACM TEST, and select the Rr. ACM SOL.V ACTIVATION in the ACM INSPECTION menu with the HDS.

12. Check the rear engine mount with your hand.

Does the mount vibrate?

YES -

Check the mount for damage. If needed, replace the rear engine mount Rear Engine Mount Replacement (J35A7 Engine). If the mount is OK, go to step 1 and recheck.

NO -

Replace the rear engine mount Rear Engine Mount Replacement (J35A7 Engine).�
