Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

Engine Oil Pressure Test

Special Tools Required

- Oil Pressure Hose 07ZAJ-S5AA200
- A/T Low Pressure Gauge w/Panel 07406-0070301
- AT Pressure Test Hose 07AAJ-PY4A100
- Pressure Gauge Adapter 07NAJ-P07010A
- A/T Pressure Adapter 07MAJ-PY40120

'07 model

If the low oil pressure indicator stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level Testing and Inspection. If the oil level is correct:

1. Remove the oil pressure switch, then install an oil pressure gauge (A).





2. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.

3. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature (fan comes on at least twice). The pressure should be:





4. If oil pressure is not within specifications, inspect these items:

- Blocking of oil filter.
- Blocking of oil strainer.
- Inspect the oil pressure relief valve Service and Repair.
- Inspect the oil pump Service and Repair.

'08-10 models

If the low oil pressure indicator stays on with the engine running, check the engine oil level Testing and Inspection. If the oil level is correct:

1. J35A6 engine: Remove the oil pressure switch Service and Repair.

2. J35A7 engine: Remove the rocker arm oil pressure sensor Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Sensor Replacement (J35A7).

3. Install the oil pressure hose, the A/T low pressure gauge w/panel, the A/T pressure hose, 2210 mm, the pressure gauge adapter, and the A/T pressure adapter as shown, then install the oil pressure switch and/or rocker arm oil pressure sensor to the pressure gauge adapter.





4. Start the engine. Shut it off immediately if the gauge registers no oil pressure. Repair the problem before continuing.
