D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting




D3 Switch Circuit Troubleshooting

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2. Disconnect the D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector A/T Gear Position Indicator Panel Light Harness Replacement.

3. Check for continuity between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3 when pressing the D3 button.





Is there continuity when pressing the D3 button once, and no continuity when pressing the button again?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Replace the D3 switch.�

4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

5. Measure the voltage between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.�

NO -

Go to step 6.

6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7. Check for continuity between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Repair open in the wire between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminal No. 3 and body ground (G501), or repair poor body ground (G501).�

8. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

9. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

10. Disconnect PCM connector A (49P).

11. Check for continuity between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair short to body ground in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector.�

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Check for continuity between D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector terminal No. 1 and PCM connector terminal A17.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software PCM Update, or substitute a known-good PCM Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview and recheck. If the symptom goes away with a known-good PCM, replace the original PCM Service and Repair.�

NO -

Repair open in the wire between PCM connector terminal A17 and the D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector.�
