SRS Unit Replacement

NOTE: If you are only disconnecting the SRS unit connector A, skip step 2.

Removal

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Disconnect both seat belt tensioner connectors Service and Repair.

3. Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation.

4. Remove the dashboard center lower cover Dashboard Center Lower Cover Removal/Installation.

5. Remove the heater lower duct Dashboard/Steering Hanger Beam Removal/Installation.

6. Disconnect the SRS unit connectors A (28P), B (28P), and C (16P). Remove the TORX bolts (D) using a TORX T30 bit, then pull out the SRS unit (E).






Installation

1. Install the SRS unit (A) with new TORX bolts (B) using a TORX T30 bit, then connect the connectors (C) to the SRS unit; push them into position until they click.

NOTE: Be sure the SRS unit is sitting squarely against its bracket before torquing the TORX bolts.





2. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.

3. Do the front passenger's weight sensor unit initialization ('07 model) or ODS unit initialization ('08-10 models).

4. Do the front passenger's weight sensor unit ('07 model) or ODS unit ('08-10 models) operation check.

- '07 model Component Tests and General Diagnostics
- '08-10 models ODS Unit Operation Check

NOTE: This is necessary for registration of serial IDs.

5. Confirm proper SRS operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); the SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.

6. Install all removed parts.
