D3 Switch Replacement

NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.

1. Remove the shift lever assembly A/T Shift Lever Removal.

2. Wrap the end of a flat-tip screwdriver with tape, pry off the D3 switch cover lock, and remove the D3 switch cover (A).






3. Remove the D3 switch (A) by expanding its locks (B). Remove the screws (C), the shift lever button (D), the button spring (E), the shift lever knob (F), and the shift lever knob cover (G).





4. Remove the tape and harness wire tie from the harness.

5. Pry the lock covers (A) of the D3 switch/park pin switch/A/T gear position indicator panel light harness connector (B), and remove the covers.





6. Remove the terminal (C) from the connector by pushing the lock tab (D) in the connector using a thin-bladed screwdriver (E). Remove all six terminals, and replace the connector.

7. Pull the D3 switch harness (A) out of the shift lever, remove the shift lever ring (B), and replace the D3 switch.





8. Insert a new D3 switch harness through the passage (C) of the shift lever ring.

9. Insert the D3 switch harness into the shift lever (D), and install the shift lever ring.

10. Install the D3 switch harness terminals (WHT) (A) in the No. 1 and No. 3 cavities. Either terminal can go in either cavity.





11. Install the park pin switch harness terminals (GRN) (B) in the No. 2 and No. 6 cavities. Either terminal can go in either cavity.

12. Install the A/T gear position indicator panel light harness terminals (RED/BLK) (C) in the No. 4 and No. 5 cavities. Either terminal can go in either cavity.

13. Make sure that all six terminals lock securely, then install the lock covers (D) securely.

14. Route the D3 switch harness (A) along the harness guide (B), place the mark (C) of the harness on the guide, and tie the harness and guide with a new harness wire tie (D).





15. Route the harnesses along the harness guide (E), and tie the harnesses and guide with a new harness wire tie (F).

16. Tie the harnesses together into bundles with new tape (A) in two places.





17. Tie the harnesses and the harness clamp (B) together into a bundle with tape (C) as shown.

18. Point the bevel (A) of the shift lever rod (B) toward the threaded holes (C), and push it into the bottom. Apply silicone grease to top of the rod.





19. Install the shift lever knob cover (D).

20. Apply silicone grease to the shift lever button (E) and the button spring (F), then install the spring, the shift lever button, and the shift lever knob (G).

21. Install the shift lever knob to the shift lever with new screws.

22. Install the D3 switch (H) and the D3 switch cover (I).

23. Install the shift lever assembly A/T Shift Lever Installation.
