DTC Troubleshooting: B1037
DTC B1037:
Rear Wiper RISE/RET Switch No Signal Change
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
3. Turn the rear window wiper/washer switch ON.
4. Check the rear window wiper operation.
Does the rear window wiper motor operate?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Go to step 14.
5. Select BODY ELECTRICAL system select menu, then enter the DATA LIST menu.
6. Check the ON/OFF information of the Rear Wiper RISE/RET Switch with the HDS.
Is OFF indicated when the motor is stopped, and ON intermittently indicated when the motor runs?
YES -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�
NO -
Go to step 7.
7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
8. Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector.
9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
10. Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Check for an open in the wire between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 3 and G601. If the wire is OK, replace the rear window wiper motor Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.�
NO -
Go to step 11.
11. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector T (34P).
12. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector T (34P) terminal No. 27.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
13. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal And Installation.�
14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
15. Check the No. 13 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES -
Go to step 16.
NO -
Go to step 23.
16. Remove the rear window wiper motor relay 1 from the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.
17. Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4, and terminals No. 5 and No. 4 respectively.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 18.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire or poor ground (G303).�
18. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P).
19. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminal No. 3 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 20.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
20. Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector S (20P) terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Go to step 21.
21. Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector.
22. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 1 5P connector terminal No. 1 and rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 24.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
23. Disconnect the rear window wiper motor 5P connector, then check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Go to step 31.
24. Do the rear window wiper motor relay 1 test Testing and Inspection.
Is the rear window wiper motor relay 1 OK?
YES -
Go to step 25.
NO -
Faulty rear window wiper motor relay 1; replace it.�
25. Remove rear window wiper motor relay 2 from the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box.
26. Measure the voltage between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 4, and terminals No. 5 and No. 4 respectively.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 27.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire or poor ground (G303).�
27. Disconnect under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P).
28. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminal No. 3 and under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P) terminal No. 12.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 29.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
29. Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector R (20P) terminal No. 12 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Go to step 30.
30. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor relay 2 5P connector terminal No. 1 and rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 5.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 32.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
31. Check for continuity between rear window wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire.�
NO -
Replace the No. 13 (10 A) fuse in the auxiliary under-hood fuse/relay box and recheck the system.�
32. Do the rear window wiper motor relay 2 test Testing and Inspection.
Is the rear window wiper motor relay 2 OK?
YES -
Go to step 33.
NO -
Faulty rear window wiper motor relay 2; replace it.�
33. Do the rear window wiper motor test.
Is the rear window wiper motor OK?
YES -
Faulty MICU; replace the under-dash fuse/relay box Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal And Installation.�
NO -
Faulty rear window wiper motor; replace it Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement.�
