Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. With navigation, check for the navigation system hard error codes. Without navigation, go to step 3.

Are there any DTC's related to the audio, XM or RES systems?

YES -

Do the appropriate DTC troubleshooting in the navigation section, and recheck.�

NO -

Go to step 3.

3. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Disconnect these items:

- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P) (with navigation)

6. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.�

7. Disconnect these items:

- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P) (with navigation)

8. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 11 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.�

9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.�

NO -

Go to step 10.

10. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

- With navigation: Go to step 11.
- Without navigation: Go to step 12.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.�

11. Disconnect the navigation display unit 28P connector.

12. Check for continuity between body ground and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 individually.





Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the XM receiver and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 13.

13. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 14.

14. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 9 and No. 10 respectively.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the XM receiver and the audio unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
