Accessory Power Socket Comes Out of the Center Console Rear Trim (Supersedes 09-048, dated July 10, 2009, to revise the information marked by asterisks)

SYMPTOM

When you pull out an accessory's plug from the accessory power socket on the center console rear trim, the power socket comes out with the plug.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The curved shape of the center console rear trim does not provide a good fit for the accessory power socket.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the center console rear trim.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:
Be careful not to scratch the center console or any other trim parts.

1. Remove the center console rear trim:

^ Pull the top of the trim to detach the upper clips.

^ Continue pulling the sides of the trim to release the side clips.

^ Disconnect the 8P connector, then remove the rear trim from the center console.

2. Remove these parts from the rear trim, and install them on the new rear trim:

NOTE:
Not all vehicles are equipped with all of the parts listed below.





^ Rear control panel harness

^ Upper and lower ducts (six screws)





^ Right and left vents and vent trim (eight screws)





^ Rear A/C control panel





^ Auxiliary jack assembly





^ Rear trim cover

^ Accessory power socket and housing

3. Install the new rear trim, making sure that all parts are correctly installed and all trim clips are firmly seated.
