Black picture is shown on the display (no image)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- If the navigation system, or XM radio do not function properly, troubleshoot and resolve those problems first.
- You need to switch the audio unit REAR PWR button on for the rear display, remote controls, and sound to operate.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then push the REAR POWER button to see if the screen turns on.
Does the screen come ON?
YES -
Operation is normal at this time.�
NO -
Go to step 2.
2. Check for brightness settings in the display set up (refer to the owner's manual for more information).
Are the display settings set properly?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Adjust the display setting, and recheck.�
3. Check the No. 23 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Replace the fuse, and recheck.�
4. Remove the display cover Service and Repair. Then check that the rear controller and screen is properly connected.
Is the rear controller and screen connected properly?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Reconnect the connector, and recheck.�
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Measure the voltage between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 7.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the No. 23 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the rear controller and screen.�
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
8. Measure the voltage between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 24 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 24 and body ground (G404).�
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
10. Disconnect the rear controller and screen 24P connector and audio unit connector F (28P).
11. Check for continuity between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 12 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the rear controller and screen and the audio unit.�
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 12 and audio unit connector F (28P) terminal No. 13.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Substitute a known-good rear controller and screen Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original rear controller and screen Service and Repair. If the symptom/indication does not go away, replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the rear controller and screen and the audio unit.�
