Screen backlight does not dim/remains dim
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the dash and gauge dimmer operation. If there is a problem with the dash and gauge dimmer, repair it before doing this troubleshooting.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
2. Turn the combination light switch ON and OFF, then back ON.
Does the screen backlight dim with the combination light switch in the ON position?
YES -
Operation is normal at this time.�
NO -
Go to step 3.
3. Check the backlight settings in the display set up (refer to the Owner's Manual for more information).
Are the display settings set properly?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Adjust the display settings, and recheck.�
4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
5. Check that the rear controller and screen and audio unit are properly connected.
Are the connections OK?
YES -
Go to step 6.
NO -
Reconnect the connector, and recheck.�
6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
7. Measure the voltage between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 11 and body ground. Turn the combination light switch on and off to see if the voltage changes.
Is there battery voltage with the combination light switch ON?
YES -
Go to step 8.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the No. 14 (7.5A) fuse in the under dash fuse box and the rear controller and screen.�
8. Turn the headlights ON, and check the illumination of several other unit/switches not related to the rear entertainment system.
Are the buttons illuminated?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Troubleshoot the interior lights. Start by checking the No. 14 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box. If there is OK, go to MICU input test MICU And Door Multiplex Control Unit Input Test.�
9. Measure the voltage between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 11 and No. 23 as you turn the gauge brightness controller from dim to bright.
Does the voltage change from about 3 V (low) to battery voltage (max)?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
- If there is 0 V at all times, repair an open in the wire between the gauge and the rear controller and screen.�
- If there is battery voltage at all times, repair a short in the wire between the gauge and the rear controller and screen. �
10. Measure the voltage between rear controller and screen 24P connector terminal No. 24 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Replace the rear controller and screen Service and Repair.�
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between rear controller and screen 24P connector No. 24 terminal and body ground (G404).�
