Wireless headphone sound is weak, sound distorted, there is static, volume does not change, or there is no sound in all modes
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- You may use known-good headphones from a factory installed or accessory RES, but it must be a similar vehicle (for example, do not use Odyssey RES headphones).
1. Substitute a known-good wireless headphone, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES -
Replace the wireless headphone batteries Service and Repair, and retest. If the symptom/indication does not go away, replace the original wireless headphones.�
NO -
Go to step 2.
2. Check the lens (A) on the rear edge of the rear screen for dirt (and clean it) or damage.
Does the rear screen appear to be in good condition?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Substitute a known-good rear controller and screen Service and Repair, and recheck.�
3. Substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck.
Does the symptom go away?
YES -
Replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Disconnect audio unit connector F (28P) and the rear controller and screen 24P connector.
5. Check for continuity between body ground and audio unit connector F (28P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the rear controller and screen. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 6.
6. Check for continuity between the terminal of audio unit connector F (28P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the rear controller and screen. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 7.
7. Check for continuity between audio unit connector F (28P) and rear controller and screen 24P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Substitute a known-good rear controller and screen Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original rear controller and screen Service and Repair.�
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the rear controller and screen. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
