Front Seat Belt
NOTE:
- Check the front seat belts for damage Testing and Inspection, and replace them if necessary.
- If replacing the front seat belt after deployment. Refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is similar.
1. Slide the front seat all the way forward, and adjust the seat to its maximum height. Carefully pry up on the bottom of the anchor cover (A) to release the tab (B) using the appropriate trim tool from below inside the recline cover (C). Remove the cover.
2. Adjust the seat to its minimum height, then remove the lower anchor bolt (A).
3. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
4. Remove the B-pillar lower trim.
5. Remove the B-pillar upper trim.
6. Remove the upper anchor cover (A) and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).
7. Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (A). Remove the retractor mounting bolt (B) and the retractor bolt (C), then remove the front seat belt (D) and retractor (E).
8. If necessary, remove the front seat belt protector (F).
9. Remove the shoulder anchor adjuster (A).
10. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the upper anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque with a torque wrench.
- Assemble the washer, the collar, and the bushing on the upper anchor bolt as shown.
- If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the front seat belt protector.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
Upper anchor bolt installation

- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation (USA/Canada).
3. Remove the TORX screw and the hooks (A), then remove the center cover (B).
4. Lift up the front seat, then disconnect the seat belt buckle switch connector (A) and detach the harness clips (B). The driver's seat is shown; the passenger's seat is similar.

5. Remove the center anchor bolt (A), and detach the harness clips (B), then remove the seat belt buckle (C).

6. Pull the seat belt buckle switch harness (D) out through the space between the seat cushion and the seat adjuster.
7. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Assemble the washers and the bushing on the center anchor bolt as shown.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to specified torque with a torque wrench.
- Make sure the seat belt buckle switch connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
