Second Row Seat Belt
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Check the second row seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary.
1. Slide the second row seat forward fully.
2. Remove the rear side trim panel Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Rear Side Area.
3. Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).
4. Remove the upper anchor cap (A) and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).
5. Remove the retractor mounting bolt (A) and the retractor bolt (B), then remove the second row seat belt (C) and retractor (D).
6. If necessary, remove the second row seat belt protector (E).
7. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described Testing and Inspection.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the upper anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque with a torque wrench.
- Assemble the washers, the collar, and the bushing on the upper anchor bolt as shown.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the second row seat belt.
Upper anchor bolt installation
Center Second Row Seat Belt
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Check the second row seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary.
1. Detach the clips, and remove the seat belt cover (A).
2. Remove the headliner Service and Repair.
3. Remove the upper anchor mounting bolts (A) and upper anchor bolt (B), then remove the upper anchor (C).
4. Remove the retractor mounting bolt (A) and retractor bolt (B), then remove the retractor (C).
5. Install the center second row seat belt and retractor in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described.
- Before installing the upper anchor bolt, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
Left Second Row Seat Belt Buckle and Center Second Row Seat Belt Detachable Anchor
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Check the second row seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary.
1. Remove the left second row seat Second Row Seat Removal/Installation.
2. Remove the seat belt buckle (A) from the elastic strap (B).
3. From the back of the seat, remove the TORX screws (A), then remove the anchor cover (B).
4. Remove the center anchor bolts (A).
5. Remove the left second row seat belt buckle (A) and center second row seat belt detachable anchor (B) from the elastic straps (C), and remove them from the seat cushion.
6. Install the buckle and the detachable anchor in the reverse order of removal.
Center Second Row Seat Belt Buckle/Right Second Row Seat Belt Buckle
NOTE:
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Check the second row seat belts for damage, and replace them if necessary.
- The center seat belt buckle is shown. The right seat belt buckle is similar.
1. Remove the second row seat Second Row Seat Removal/Installation.
2. From both sides of the seat, release the hooks (A, B), then remove the pivot screw cover (C). Remove the pivot screw with a TORX T30 bit.
3. On the left second row seat: Remove the left second row seat belt buckle and the center second row seat belt detachable anchor from under the seat cushion.
4. Lift the seat cushion (A) up.
5. Remove the center anchor bolt (A), and remove the seat belt buckle (B).
6. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal and apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
