Left Third Row Seat-Back Cover Is Broken or Loose

SYMPTOM
The left third row seat-back cover is loose or broken.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The third row seat-back cover is warped.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the third row seat-back cover, and drill a hole in the seat frame for the new middle clip.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Pry out the lids and remove the screws securing the middle cargo hook, then remove the cargo hook.





2. Pry out the lid, remove the screw securing the left cargo hook, then remove the cargo hook.





3. Remove the tether anchor covers.





4. Pry out the recline lever cover from the seat-back cover.





5. Release the clips at the edge of the seat-back cover from the seat-back frame.





6. Slide the seat-back cover down to release the remaining clips from the keyholes in the frame.

7. Fit the new seat-back cover in place without setting any clips, and note the location where the new clip contacts the seat frame.





8. Place three layers of masking tape on the seat frame where the new clip made contact.

9. Set the two outside corner clips (the ones to the right and left of the tape).





10. Push down on the middle clip hard enough to make a mark on the tape.





11. Remove the seat-back cover. Using a center punch, make a mark where the clip made an impression in the tape.

12. Remove the tape, and place a towel under the seat-back to catch any metal chips.





13. Using a 3 mm bit, drill a pilot hole in the frame. Then enlarge the hole with a 7 mm bit.

14. Remove any burrs from the frame.

15. Remove the towel and discard the metal chips.

16. Install the new seat-back cover.

17. Reinstall the recline lever cover, the tether anchor cover, and the cargo hooks.
