Defect Code: 03214

Symptom Code: 05701

Skill Level: Repair Technician

REPAIR PROCEDURE A

1. Inspect the pivot bracket mounting hole in the headliner. If there is any obstruction, such as a wire harness, relocate or remove the obstruction.

NOTE:
The vanity mirror wire harness usually does not interfere with sunvisor installation.

2. Inspect the pivot bracket locking tab, and make sure it securely engages the hole in the bracket. If the tab does not securely engage, replace the sun visor (see Repair Procedure B).

3. Make sure the locking tab is set to its unlocked position. If needed, push the tab to its unlocked position using a trim tool.

4. Cut a 5 mm x 5 mm square from a spare piece of EPT 3T foam.

5. Insert the foam behind the locking tab to force the tab outward.

6. Push in the locking tab, then rotate the bracket cover about 150 until the tab is inside the cover.

NOTE:
Use a trim tool to push in the tab. Metal tools can cause damage.

7. Turn the bracket cover 900 in relation to the sunvisor.

8. Connect the vanity light harness connector, then install the pivot bracket in the mounting hole.

9. Hold the bracket cover, and rotate the sunvisor toward the sunvisor holder until you hear the locking tab click into place.

NOTE:
If you do not hear the tab click, the sunvisor is not installed securely.

10. Move the sunvisor through its normal range of travel, and make sure it is installed securely. If it falls out, repeat steps 6 thru 9. If you cannot install the sunvisor securely, replace it.

11. Move the other sunvisor through its normal range of travel. If it falls down, repeat steps 1 thru 10.

REPAIR PROCEDURE B

1. Insert a plastic trim tool through the hole in the front side of the bracket cover, and push in on the tab.

2. While pushing in on the tab, release the sunvisor from the holder, and rotate the sunvisor backward 450 Make sure the tab slides into the bracket cover as you rotate the sunvisor.

3. Pull down the sunvisor to release the pin and the

bracket from the holes in the body, and disconnect the vanity mirror light connector.

NOTE:
If the sunvisor cannot be pulled down, the tab has not rotated into the bracket cover. Repeat step 2 to rotate the tab.

4. Reconnect the vanity mirror light connector, and install the new sunvisor by inserting the bracket and the pin of the bracket cover to the hole in the body.

5. While holding the bracket cover, rotate the sunvisor forward until the tab snaps into place. Gently pull down on the sunvisor to make sure that it is properly secured in the body. Rotate the sunvisor into the holder.

6. If needed, repeat steps 1 thru 5 for the other sunvisor.
