DTC Troubleshooting: B1077

DTC B1077:

Wiper Switch (As) Malfunction

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Turn the wiper switch to LOW or HIGH for at least 15 seconds, then turn the switch OFF.

NOTE: If the wiper motor does not run, go to step 9.

Does the wiper arm stop at the AUTO STOP (park) position?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Go to step 5.

4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTCs B1077 indicated?

YES -

Check for loose or poor connections between the under-hood fuse/relay box and the wiper motor. If the connections are OK, substitute a known-good under-hood fuse/relay box, and recheck. If the DTC does not reappear, replace the under-hood fuse/relay box Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.�

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect under-hood fuse/relay box connector K (5P) and the windshield wiper motor 5P connector.

7. Check for continuity between windshield wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 4 and under-hood fuse/relay box connector K (5P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�

8. Check for continuity between under-hood fuse/relay box connector K (5P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a short to ground in the wire.�

NO -

Faulty relay control module; replace the under-hood fuse/relay box Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.�

9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

10. Check the No. 11 (30 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.

Is the fuse OK?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Replace the blown fuse and recheck the system. If the fuse is blown again, check for a short on the wire between the under-dash fuse/relay box and the wiper motor.�

11. Do the wiper motor test Wiper Motor Test.

Is the wiper motor OK?

YES -

Go to step 12.

NO -

Replace the wiper motor and recheck.�

12. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

13. Measure the voltage between wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 14.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�

14. Check for continuity between wiper motor 5P connector terminals No. 3 and No. 5 and under-hood fuse/relay box connector K (5P) terminals No. 1 and No. 3 respectively.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 15.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�

15. Check for continuity between wiper motor 5P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Faulty relay control module; replace the under-hood fuse/relay box Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.�

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G202).�
