DTC Troubleshooting: B1205, B1206, B1207

DTC B1205:

HVAC Control Unit Lost Communication with Gauge Control Module (VSP/NE message)

DTC B1206:

HVAC Control Unit Lost Communication with Gauge Control Module (ECT message)

DTC B1207:

HVAC Control Unit Lost Communication with Gauge Control Module (ILLUMI message)

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN system diagnosis test mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

2. Operate the heater-A/C control system in several modes.

3. Check for DTCs using the HDS.

Is DTC B1205, B1206 and/or B1207 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Intermittent failure. The gauge control module and HVAC control unit are OK at this time. Check for CAN or B-CAN problems elsewhere.�

4. Check for DTCs using the HDS.

Is DTC B1060 or B2157 indicated?

YES -

Perform the gauge control module input test Gauge Control Module Input Test.�

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect the HVAC control unit 30P connector.

7. Remove the gauge control module Service and Repair.

8. Check for continuity between HVAC control unit 30P connector terminal No. 11 and gauge control module connector B (14P) terminal No. 6.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good HVAC control unit, then return to step 3 and recheck. If the problem is still present, replace the gauge control module Service and Repair.�

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the HVAC control unit and the gauge control module.�
