DTC Troubleshooting: B1279

DTC B1279:

Headlight Switch Dimmer Position Circuit Malfunction

NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.

2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).

3. Turn the headlight switch ON.

4. Change the dimmer switch from low beam to high beam and wait for 2 seconds.

5. Pull and hold the dimmer switch lever and keep the passing switch position for more than 2 seconds.

6. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1279 indicated?

YES -

Faulty combination switch control unit, replace the combination switch Service and Repair.�

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Wiggle the related harness and check for loose or poor connections.�
