SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 62-1x
DTC 62-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F):
Open in the Front Passenger's Seat Belt Buckle Switch
NOTE: Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair, General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes, and Battery Terminal Disconnection and Reconnection Procedures.
1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), then wait for 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then buckle and unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt several times.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 62-1x indicated?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC. �
5. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then PARAMETER INFORMATION. In the PARAMETER INFORMATION Menu, select Buckle Switch, Seat Position Sensor and check the status on the HDS screen for FRONT RIGHT SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH.
- If UNBUCKLED is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled, go to step 6.
- If BUCKLED is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is unbuckled, go to step 12.
- If OPEN is indicated only when the front passenger's seat belt is buckled and unbuckled, go to step 19.
6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
7. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
8. Buckle the front passenger's seat belt. Check resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistances specified?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
9. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.
10. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
11. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 16 and front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 3. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness, or poor connection at C504. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
12. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
13. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
14. Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
15. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Go to step 16.
NO -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
16. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then wait for 3 minutes.
17. Disconnect SRS unit connector B (28P) from the SRS unit.
18. Measure the resistance between SRS unit connector B (28P) terminal No. 15 and front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 2.There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS unit connector B (28P) and the SRS unit. Check the connection between the connector and the SRS unit. If the connection is OK, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness, or poor connection at C504. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the faulty harness.�
19. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
20. Disconnect the front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector from the front passenger's seat belt buckle switch 3P connector (A).
21. Unbuckle the front passenger's seat belt.
22. Measure the resistance between front passenger's seat wire harness 3P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground. There should be less than 1.0 Ohms.
Is the resistance as specified?
YES -
Replace the front passenger's seat belt buckle assembly, then clear the DTC.�
NO -
Open in the floor wire harness or the front passenger's seat wire harness or poor ground connection at G501. If G501 is OK, replace the faulty harness, then clear the DTC.�
