Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Error code: XM NO SIGNAL or XM ANTENNA is displayed

Error code: XM NO SIGNAL or XM ANTENNA is displayed

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Check XM radio reception in an open area. Poor reception/interference can be caused by tall buildings, mountains, or high-voltage power lines.
- Check for other error codes Audio System Error Codes.

1. Park the vehicle outside with a clear view of the southern horizon.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

3. Check for other XM error codes.

Are the other XM error codes displayed?

YES -

Go to error codes Audio System Error Codes.

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn on the audio unit, and select XM radio.

Does the XM radio receive a signal?

YES -

Intermittent reception interference. The system is OK at this time.�

NO -

Go to step 5.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Check the connection at XM antenna 2P connector and XM receiver connector B (2P).

Are the connectors connected?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

Reconnect the connectors and recheck XM radio operation. If the signal is restored, system is OK. If the signal is not restored, go to step 7.

7. Measure the voltage between body ground and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 1 and No. 7 individually.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 8.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire(s) between the No. 7 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals No. 1 and No. 7.�

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

9. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there less than 2V?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

- With navigation system: Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio disc changer.�
- Without navigation system: Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and the audio unit.�

10. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 11.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the XM receiver and body ground (G501).�

11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

12. Substitute a known-good XM antenna Service and Repair.

Does the XM radio receive a signal?

YES -

Replace the original XM antenna Service and Repair.�

NO -

Substitute known-good XM antenna subharness. If the XM radio receives signal, replace the original XM antenna subharness. If the XM radio does not receive a signal, substitute a known-good XM receiver unit XM Receiver Removal/Installation.�
