Unable to select audio disc changer
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Testing and Inspection.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Insert a known-good disc into the audio disc changer.
Does the disc load?
YES -
Go to step 2.
NO -
Go to Audio disc does not load troubleshooting Symptom Troubleshooting.�
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Disconnect audio unit connector B (14P).
4. Disconnect audio disc changer connector A (18P).
5. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (14P) terminals and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 6.
6. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector B (14P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 7.
7. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (14P) and audio disc changer connector A (18P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Substitute a known-good audio disc changer Service and Repair, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio disc changer Service and Repair. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit Audio Unit Removal/Installation.�
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio disc changer. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
