REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:

^ SRS components are located in this area. Make sure you are familiar with the SRS component locations, precautions, and procedures in the service manual before doing repairs or service.

^ Replace any damaged clips.

This procedure is in an outline form that you can also use as a checklist for the repair. If you need more details on the topics listed below, bookmark them in the 2009-2011 Ridgeline Service Manual, or view them online:

^ Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas/Door Areas

^ Sunvisor Removal/Installation

^ Headliner Removal/Installation

^ Front Seat Belt Replacement

1. Disconnect or remove these parts:

^ A-pillar trim, both sides

^ Front seat belt lower anchor

^ B-pillar lower trim, unhook the top of both

^ B-pillar upper trim, both sides

^ Front seat belt upper anchor, both sides

^ Rear trim panel

^ Rear seat belt upper anchor, both sides

^ C-pillar trim, both sides

^ Ceiling light

^ Sunvisors - remove both

NOTE:
See ISIS or the service manual for the specific procedure. Parts can be damaged if not removed correctly.

2. Remove the roof console:

^ Remove the map light lenses.

^ Remove the map light screws, then pull out the front map light.

^ Disconnect the front map light connector.

^ Remove the roof console bolts.

^ Disconnect the navigation/microphone/HomeLink unit connector.

3. Remove the coat hangers on both sides.

4. Adjust the steering column all the way down and inward. Also, move both front seats all the way back, and recline the seat-backs about 45 degrees.

5. Lower the headliner, allowing it to rest on the front seat below the steering wheel. Position the rear of the headliner just below the rear window so the stiffener is almost horizontal:

6. To prevent the possibility of improper deployment and injury if the side curtain airbags should ever deploy, inspect the headliner and all removed trim. Replace any pieces that show the following damage:

^ Creases or tears on the headliner

^ Cracks or breakage on the grab handles

^ Damage around the grab handle holes or the sunvisor holes on the headliner

^ Cracks on the sunvisor bracket cover

^ Bends or cracks on the sunvisor stay shaft

^ Cracks on the sunvisor base

^ Cracks or breakage on the vanity mirror base

^ Fasteners, clip bases, or magnet bases that came off the headliner

7. Mark the position of the stiffener using the recess in the headliner that is used to position the stiffener during production.

8. Remove the old glue from the stiffener and the headliner. Dig out the old glue from the holes in the stiffener. If the stiffener is still partially attached, do not remove it from the headliner.

9. Reattach the stiffener to the headliner using 3M DP100 epoxy, making sure the epoxy squeezes thru the holes and wraps around the top edge of the stiffener as shown.

NOTE:
The working time for the epoxy is 3-5 minutes.

10. Secure the stiffener to the headliner with duct tape or masking tape, and allow it to cure overnite.

11. Reinstall the headliner:

^ Reattach the clips attaching the wire harness to both side stiffeners.

^ Reconnect the hook and loop fasteners and the front clips by raising the headliner.

12. Reinstall the roof console.

^ Reconnect the navigation/microphone/HomeLink unit connector.

^ Reinstall the console bolts.

^ Reconnect the front map light connector.

^ Install the two map light screws, then push in the front map light.

^ Install the map light lenses.

13. Replace any damaged trim clips, then reconnect or reinstall these parts:

^ Sunvisors

^ Ceiling light

^ C-pillar trim

^ Rear seat belt upper anchors

^ Rear trim panel

^ Front seat belt upper anchors

^ B-pillar upper/lower trim

^ Front seat belt lower anchor

^ A-pillar trim

14. Test-drive the vehicle, and make sure the rattle or vibration is gone.
