Exterior Lights Symptom Troubleshooting - Daytime running lights do not come on
Daytime running lights do not come on
NOTE: If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.
Before troubleshooting, check the No. 3 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box, and daytime running light bulbs.
1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) and then back to ON (II).
2. Release the parking brake pedal.
3. Turn the headlight switch OFF or parking position.
4. Connect the under-hood fuse/relay box connector H (18P) terminal No. 10 and body ground with jumper wire.
Do both daytime running lights come on?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Go to step 7.
5. Select the TEST MODE menu from the HDS, and then enter DATA LIST with HDS.
6. Check the ON/OFF information of the DAYLIGHT RELAY in the DATA LIST.
Is the information indicator ON?
YES -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.�
NO -
Do the relay control module input test. If input tests are OK, relay control module must be faulty, replace the under-hood fuse/relay box Under-Hood Fuse/Relay Box Removal and Installation.�
7. Measure the voltage between daytime running lights relay 4P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground, and terminal No. 4 and body ground individually.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
Go to step 8.
8. Disconnect the under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (17P).
9. Check for continuity between under-dash fuse/relay box connector D (17P) terminal No. 14 and daytime running lights relay 4P connector terminal No. 2 and No. 4 respectively.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Replace the under-dash fuse/relay box Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box Removal And Installation.�
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
10. Check for continuity between left daytime running light 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 11.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G301).�
11. Check for continuity between left daytime running light 2P connector terminal No. 2 and right daytime running light 2P connector terminal No. 1.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 12.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
12. Check for continuity between right daytime running light 2P connector terminal No. 2 and daytime running lights relay 4P connector terminal No. 1.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 13.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
13. Disconnect the under-hood fuse/relay box connector H (18P).
14. Check for continuity between under-hood fuse/relay box connector H (18P) terminal No. 10 and daytime running lights relay 4P connector terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Do the daytime running lights relay test Power Relay Test.�
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire.�
