Instruments - 'Check Engine Oil Level' Message Displayed

MID or Navi Shows a Check Engine Oil Level Message, Low Oil Pressure Indicator May Be On

SYMPTOM

With a normal engine oil level, a "check engine oil level" message appears on the MID or the navigation screen. The low oil pressure indicator on the instrument panel may also be on.

PROBABLE CAUSE

The engine oil pressure switch is faulty.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the engine oil pressure switch.

0-ring (10.2x 1.9): P/N 91319-R70-A01

Accord - Flange Bolt (10 x 34, two required):
P/N 90170-SDA-A01

Accord - Flange Bolt (12 x 75, one required):
P/N 90396-S5A-010

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Start the engine, turn the steering wheel fully to the right, then shut off the engine.

2. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it's securely supported.





3. Accord: Remove the front subframe middle mount.





4. For easier removal of the engine oil pressure switch, disconnect the rocker arm oil pressure switch connector.

5. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector, then remove the switch.

6. Remove any liquid gasket from in or around the switch hole.

7. Apply a very thin layer of liquid gasket to the threads of the new switch. Install a new 0-ring, then install the switch, and torque it to 18 N.m (13 lb-ft).

8. Reconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector and the rocker arm oil pressure switch connector.

9. Accord: Reinstall the front subframe middle mount with new bolts, and tighten them to the following specifications:

^ Tighten the two 10 x 1.25 mm (side bolts) to 49 N.m (36 lb-ft).

^ Tighten the 12 x 1.25 mm bolt (lower) to 44 N.m (33 lbf-ft).
