Heated Windshield Wiper Area Function Test

Before troubleshooting the heated windshield wiper area circuit, do the multiplex integrated control system troubleshooting using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A Troubleshooting - B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A.

NOTE:

- The system only works when the outside ambient temperature is below 39°F (4°C), and turns off when the ambient temperature is above 45°F (7°C).

- Before testing, check the No. 14 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, No. 30 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box and the heated windshield wiper area relay in the under-hood fuse/relay box.

1. Disconnect the heated windshield wiper area relay from the under-hood fuse/relay box.

2. Remove the glove box Glove Box Removal/Installation.

3. Disconnect the heated windshield wiper area 2P connector.

4. Check for continuity between heated windshield wiper area relay 4P socket terminal No. 1 and heated windshield wiper area 2P connector terminal No. 1.

5. There should be continuity.

- If there is no continuity, check for:
- An open in the BLK/YEL wire between the heated windshield wiper area relay and heated windshield wiper area.
- If there is continuity, go to step 6.

6. Check for continuity between heated windshield wiper area 2P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.

7. If there is no continuity, check for an open or high resistance in the wire or poor ground (G402).

- If there is continuity, check for:
- Faulty HVAC control unit/climate control unit.
- An open in the heated windshield wiper area wire. Repair the heated windshield wiper area wire or replace the windshield.
