Fuel Tank Pressure Release Valve: Description and Operation

PURPOSE

To prevent damage to the Fuel Tank or lines due to excessive pressure or vacuum.

OPERATION

The Evaporative Emissions Two Way Valve is a mechanically operated, pressure activated valve device which is in-line between the Fuel Tank and the Evaporative Emissions Cannister. When presure inside the Fuel Tank exceeds a predetermined level the valve open and vents the pressure to the Evaporative Emissions Cannister. When vacuum (negative pressure) exceeds a predetermined level the valve opens and draws air through the Evaporative Emissions Cannister and into the Fuel Tank.
