Bearings, Replacement
NOTE: Coat all parts with ATF during installation.MAINSHAFT BEARINGS
Required Tools
- 07736-A01000A Adjustable Bearing puller, 25-40 mm
- 07749-0010000 Driver
- 07746-0010500 Attachment, 62x68 mm
1. Remove the snap ring from the torque converter housing.
2. Remove the mainshaft bearing and oil seal using the special tools as shown
3. Drive in the new mainshaft bearing until it bottoms in the housing using the special tools as shown.
4. Install the new oil seal flush with the snap ring groove in the housing using the special tools as shown.
5. Install the snap ring in the groove of the housing.
COUNTERSHAFT BEARINGS
Required Tools
- 07736-A01000A Adjustable Bearing Puller, 25-40 mm
- 07749-0010000 Driver
- 07746-0010500 Attachment, 62x68 mm
1. Remove the countershaft bearing using the special tools as shown.
2. Install the ATF guide plate.
3. Install the new bearing in the housing using the special tools as shown.
SECONDARY SHAFT BEARINGS
Required Tools
- 07736-A01000A Adjustable Bearing Puller, 25-40 mm
- 07749-0010000 Driver
- 07746-0010500 Attachment, 62x68 mm
- Or Equivalent
1. Remove the secondary shaft bearing using the special tools as shown.
2. Install the ATF guide plate.
3. Install the new bearing in the housing using the special tools as shown.
TRANSMISSION HOUSING BEARINGS
1. To remove the bearings from the transmission housing, expand each snap ring with snap ring pliers, then push the bearing out.
NOTE:
- Do not remove the snap rings unless it's necessary to clean the grooves in the housing.
- The mainshaft and secondary shaft bearings are pushed from inside of the transmission housing. The countershaft bearing is pushed from outside of the transmission housing.
2. Expand each snap ring with snap ring pliers, then insert the bearing part-way into it, then release the pliers. Push the bearing down into the transmission housing until the ring snaps in place around it.
NOTE:
- Install the bearing with the groove side facing away from the transmission housing.
- Install the mainshaft and secondary shaft bearings from inside of the transmission housing. Install the countershaft bearing from outside of the transmission housing.
3. After installing the bearing, verify the following:
- The snap ring is seated in the bearing and housing grooves.
- The snap ring operates properly.
- The ring end gap is correct.
