Left Side Cover

Required Tools
- 07GAB-PF50101 or PF50100 Mainshaft Holder
- Puller
- Or Equivalent





NOTE:
- Clean all parts thoroughly in solvent or carburetor cleaner, and dry with compressed air.
- Blow out all passages.
- When removing the transmission left side cover, replace following:
- Left side cover gasket Lock washer
- O-rings
- Each shaft locknut and conical spring washer
- Sealing washers

1. Remove the mainshaft speed sensor connector from the connector bracket.
2. Remove the sixteen bolts securing the left side cover, then remove the left side cover.





3. Slip the special tool onto the mainshaft as shown.
4. Engage the parking brake pawl with the parking gear.





5. Cut the lock tabs of each shaft locknut using a chisel as shown. Then remove the locknuts and conical spring washers from each shaft.

NOTE:
- Countershaft and secondary shaft locknuts have left-hand threads.
- Clean the old locknuts; they are used to install the press fit idler gears on the mainshaft and secondary shaft and the parking gear on the countershaft.
- Always wear safety glasses.

CAUTION: Keep all of the chiseled particles out of the transmission.

6. Remove the special tool from the mainshaft after removing the locknuts.
7. Remove the parking gear using a puller from the countershaft as shown.
8. Remove the thrust needle bearing, countershaft idler gear, needle bearing, thrust needle bearing and splined washer from the countershaft.





9. Remove the idler gears from the mainshaft and secondary shaft using a puller as shown.
10. Remove the parking brake pawl, spring, shaft and stop shaft from the transmission housing.
11. Remove the bolt securing the parking brake stop, then remove the lock washer, parking brake stop, lever and spring from the control shaft.
12. Remove the connectors from the connector bracket on the ATF cooler pipes.
13. Remove the joint bolts and 6 mm bolt, then remove the ATF cooler pipes.
