Differential Installation

Differential Installation
1. Install the right and left differential mount bracket A to the rear differential.





2. Place the rear differential on the floor jack, and raise it to the mounting level.





3. 2000-2005 models: Install the four differential mount bracket B mounting nuts.
2006 model: Install the differential breather box. Then install the four differential mount bracket B mounting nuts.





4. Install the right and left differential mount bracket A mounting bolts.





5. Install the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister cover.





6. Install the rear suspension stiffener.





7. Install the inboard joints (A) onto the rear differential by aligning the reference marks (B).





8. Install the ball joints onto the lower arms (A), then install the castle nuts (B) and new cotter pins.

NOTE: Make sure the ball joint boot is not damage or cracked.





9. Install the wheel sensor harness onto the upper arm.
10. Install the propeller shaft to the transmission and the rear differential by aligning the reference marks.
11. Refill the differential fluid.





12. Install a new spindle nut (A), then tighten the nut. After tightening, use a drift to stake the spindle nut shoulder (B) against the driveshaft.
13. Clean the mating surfaces of the brake disc and the rear wheel, then install the rear wheel with the wheel nuts.
14. Turn the rear wheel by hand, and make sure there is no interference between the driveshaft and surrounding parts.
15. Check the rear wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.
