Carrier Bearing/Speedometer Drive Gear ReplacementSpecial Tool Required

1. Check the carrier bearings for wear and rough rotation. If they rotate smoothly and their rollers show no signs of wear, the bearings are OK.
2. Remove the carrier bearings (A) with a commercially available bearing puller (B) and bearing separator (C).
3. Remove the speedometer drive gear.
4. Install the speedometer drive gear by aligning the finger of the speedometer drive gear with the groove of the differential carrier.
5. Install the new bearings (A) with the 40 mm I.D. driver (B) and a press. Press on each bearing until it bottoms. There should be no clearance between the bearings and the carrier.
NOTE: Turn the seal (C) part of the bearing to the outside of differential, and install it.
