Transmission Installation

Special Tools Required
^ Universal eyelet 07AAK-SNAAl20
^ Engine support hanger, A and Reds AAR-T-12566*
^ Fit engine hanger adapter VSB02C000026*
^ These special tools are available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program 1-888-424-6857.

1. Check the two dowel pins are installed in the clutch housing.
2. Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the release fork (A) and the release bearing (B), and release bearing guide (C). Install the release fork and the release bearing, and wipe excess grease off the release bearing after install it.





3. Place the transmission on the transmission jack, and raise it to the engine level.
4. Install the lower transmission mounting bolts.





5. Lower the vehicle on the hoist.
6. Install the transmission mount bracket (A) and ground cable (B).





7. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
8. Install the air cleaner stay.





9. Install the front transmission mount assembly.





10. Install the rear transmission mount bracket (A) and the rear transmission mount (B).





11. Lift and support the front subframe with a jack.





12. Install the front subframe with new mounting bolts.

NOTE: When installing, align the reference holes in the subframe with the reference holes in the body on both sides with a screwdriver or tapered punch.





13. Install the three rear transmission mount bracket bolts.





14. Install the power steering gearbox bracket.





15. Install the steering gearbox mounting bolts with the bracket (A) and stiffener (B).





16. Install the clutch cover.





17. Install the driveshaft.
18. Install the splash shield.





19. Refill the transmission fluid.
20. Lower the vehicle on the hoist.
21. Remove the universal eyelet, the engine support hanger, and Fit engine hanger adapter.
22. Install the one upper transmission mounting bolt (A) and lower starter motor mounting bolt (B).





23. Connect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) connector (A).





24. Install the cable bracket (A) and shift cables (B) to avoid bending the shift cables. Then install new cotter pins (C) and bend it as shown.

NOTE: Make sure the reference marks (D) on the shift cables come upper side.





25. Connect the back-up light switch 2P connector (A), then install the harness clamps (B).





26. Install the boot (A).





27. Apply super high temp urea grease (P/N 08798-9002) to the end of the slave cylinder rod. Install the slave cylinder (B) and avoid bending the clutch line.
28. Align the reference mark (C), install the breather tube (D) to the clamp (E).
29. Install the battery base (A) and harness clamps (B).





30. Install the air cleaner assembly.
31. Install the battery. Clean the battery posts and cable terminals with sandpaper. Connect the positive cable to the battery first, then connect the negative cable, and apply multipurpose grease to prevent corrosion.
32. Check the front wheel alignment.
33. Check the shift lever and clutch operation.
34. Test-drive the vehicle.
35. Enter the anti-theft code for the audio unit, then enter the audio presets, and set the clock.
