INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1. Look through the body hole adjacent to the trunk light, and locate the rear shelf's middle mounting hook.

Is there felt tape on the middle mounting hook?

Yes - This service bulletin does not apply. Continue with normal troubleshooting procedures.

No - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the trunk light by pressing in the retaining hook with a trim tool and pulling the light down. Detach the wire harness connector.

2. Cut a 30 x 50 mm strip of wool felt.

3. Use a utility knife or razor blade to score the adhesive backing halfway (25 mm) along the wool felt strip. Peel away the adhesive backing from the one half of the felt strip.

4. Hold the felt strip by the end with adhesive backing, and insert it through the trunk light hole with the exposed adhesive facing the underside of the body panel. Insert the exposed adhesive end of the strip between the mounting hook and the body panel.

5. Press the exposed adhesive end of the felt strip against the body panel, then remove the remaining adhesive backing, and press that part of the felt strip against the body panel. Make sure the strip is firmly attached between the mounting hook and the body panel.

6. Reinstall the trunk light, and test-drive the vehicle to make sure that rear shelf does not rattle.
