Diagnostic Procedure:

1. Verify the engine oil filler cap, the oil drain bolt, and the oil filter are tight.

2. Check for oil leaks.

3. Check for worn valve guide(s):

4. All models except PZEV Valve Inspection (Except PZEV Model)

5. PZEV model Valve Guide Replacement (PZEV Model)

6. or worn valve stem seal(s):

7. All models except PZEV Valve Stem-to-Guide Clearance Inspection (Except PZEV Model)

8. PZEV model Valve Stem-to-Guide Clearance Inspection (PZEV Model)

9. Check for damaged or worn piston ring(s). Piston Ring Replacement

10. Check for damaged or worn engine internal parts (cylinder wall, pistons, etc).. Block and Piston Inspection
