Audio Display is Discolored or Peeling, or Has White Spots in the Corners

SYMPTOM

The audio unit display is discolored or peeling, or it has white spots in the corners.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the audio unit front display panel (center panel).

REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:

^ Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation

^ Subdisplay Visor Removal/Installation

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio system. Eject any CDs from the audio unit.

2. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure.

3. Tilt the steering column all the way up.

4. Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover.

5. Tilt the steering column all the way down, and pull it all the way out.

6. Remove the subdisplay visor.





7. Remove the center pocket upper cover. Remove the two bolts, then pull out the center panel.

8. Disconnect the connectors, then remove the center panel.





9. Separate the audio unit from the center panel (six screws).





10. Remove the HVAC control unit from the center panel by removing the dials and the four self-tapping screws.





11. Remove the driver's center vent from the center panel (three screws).

12. Remove the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator from the center panel (two screws).

13. Remove the hazard warning switch from the center panel (two screws).

14. Install these parts on the new center panel:

^ Hazard warning switch

^ Passenger's airbag cutoff indicator

^ Driver's center vent

^ HVAC control unit

^ Audio unit

15. Install the new center panel in the reverse order of removal, and make sure all of the connectors are securely connected.

16. Reinstall the subdisplay visor and the driver's dashboard lower cover. Make sure all of the clips, the hooks, and the pins are securely attached. Replace any damaged clips.

17. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
