SYMPTOM

One or both front armrests are cracked, or its surface is uneven.

PROBABLE CAUSE

There is too much pressure from the driver's or passenger's elbow.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace one or both front door panels.

Out of warranty:
Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

REPAIR PROCEDURE





1. Remove the screw from the inner handle.





2. Using a flat4ip screwdriver wrapped with protective tape, push up on the hooks while pulling out on the grip cover to remove it.





3. Disconnect the power window switch connector, and remove the screw from the grip base.





4. Pull the inner handle forward and outward partway to release the hooks.





5. Using a trim pad remover, start at the bottom of the door panel and release the clips. Then release the upper clips, and lift the door panel up and off the door.





6. Remove the door panel while pulling the inner handle out through the hole in the door panel.

7. Remove the screws from the switch panel, and remove the switch panel from the door panel.

8. Reinstall the switch panel on the new door panel.

9. Install the new door panel in the reverse order of removal.

10. If needed, repeat steps 1 thru 9 for the other front door panel.
