Rattle From the Driver's Dashboard Undercover

SYMPTOM

A rattle is coming from the driver's side of the lower dashboard.

PROBABLE CAUSE

When the fuse access panel is removed, the right pin on the driver's dashboard undercover comes out of its holder. If the pin is out of its holder, a rattle occurs.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the driver's dashboard undercover. The new undercover has a longer right mounting pin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Check the right pin on the driver's dashboard undercover.





Is the pin in its holder?

Yes - This service bulletin does not apply. Look for other causes of the rattle. No - Go to step 2.

2. Replace the driver's dashboard undercover:

^ Turn the lock knob 90 degrees.

^ Gently pull down the right side to detach the front clip.

^ Pull the undercover out to release the left pin from its holder.





^ Install the new undercover in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that both left and right pins are in their holders, and that the front clip is secured. If the front clip is damaged, replace it.
