Front Wheelhouse / Damper House
Removal
- Remove the front wheelhouse.
- Check the damper housing for position and damage.
If necessary, replace the damper housing and wheelhouse rear as an assembly
- Drill holes completely through the part since the replacement wheelhouse rear will be welded by MIG plug welding.
Installation
1. Set the new damper housing, wheelhouse rear and front wheelhouse into position, and measure the front compartment diagonally. Check the body dimensions.
2. Tack weld the clamped position.
3. Check the front damper position. Temporarily install the hood, front fender, headlight and front bumper, and check for difference in level and clearance. Make sure the body lines flow smoothly.
4. Perform the main welding:
- Weld the damper housing, wheelhouse rear and front damper stiffener.
- From passenger compartment side, plug weld the holes in the dashboard lower and wheelhouse rear.
- Plug weld the wheelhouse rear and inner lower.
- Plug weld the front side frame and upper arm bracket of the front and rear.
- Weld the wheelhouse upper member.
